“The Towers’ Rise and Fall”

Amazing photo collection over at the NY Times: “The Towers’ Rise and Fall”. “Rise, Life, and Fall” – I don’t know – the pictures of the “life” are what really hit me even as they at least make me smile; the rest – the death part – is still too hard to look at without the visceral sadness.

  • After a day and night trapped at home by rain and Zoom meetings, had to get out for National Soft Serve Ice Cream Day. Carvel invented soft-serve 90 years; this store has been Chinese-American owned since the 70s.
  • Chun Hong Kong Cafe, 6419 18 Av Brooklyn. All of the HK diner favorites in a spacious spot with movie and tourist signs and themed decor. Easy to get to from N train.
  • Date night at @hellskitchenbway – our wedding song is “No One”!#HKFamPhoto
  • Later on in the evening, Ms. A was also promoted to Girl Scout Cadette at her troop’s court of honor bridging ceremony.
  • Got off the train visiting my mom and bumped into Dave Napitupulu – we got some halal cart! Great seeing you!
  • Made Hakka Lei Cha with Dominic Wong at Hakka Association of NY Inc. 大紐約客家會’s booth at the Taiwan Fest – great way to work out stress!
  • Checking out Ramon’s Kids “From DARPA” graphic novel series at the E 10th St. Fair
  • Bagel brunch at open streets Park Slope
  • The weather’s hot – A’s ready for @chinatownicecreamfactory ice cream!
  • Great catching up with everyone at the @aabany gala!
  • Saw An American Soldier earlier this week, an opera by David Henry Huang and Huang Ruo about the tragedy of Pvt. Danny Chen. It was powerful and visceral. I see that Chen’s mother’s suffering and search for justice parallels Vincent Chin’s mother.
  • Honored to be the alumni standard bearer this morning for the #NYUCAS2024 baccalaureate! Congratulations to these well-accomplished leaders!
